Painted Bunting

When I first saw this bird, I thought someone's pet parrot got loose! This colorful bunting is not native to Utah, but for some reason, this little fellow was feeding in our backyard. The picture I was able to take wasn't the best, so I also looked him up in a birding book to make sure of the species I was seeing. The painted bunting wears an amazingly colorful costume and is native in the Eastern United States. I had to paint him in this sassy stance because it fit his personality so well.
